My Goals and Objectives for Pacifica My goal is progress. My objectives are to:
Stabilize fiscal budgeting so that we can move forward, with an eye to both revenue and expenses. I will identify and prioritize our infrastructure needs and initiate a maintenance and improvement plan. A lot of our problems arise from neglected maintenance. The pier, sewer laterals, streets, and the sewage treatment plant are all areas for consideration.
Look at what makes Pacifica lower on the list as a place for businesses to invest. I will study and work to improve the zoning codes, policies, and planning process to make Pacifica more customer friendly for residents and business owners alike.
Hire an Economic Development Director and an assistant. The Council will give clear direction as to what is needed, wanted, and expected. There will be an established timeline and review in a public forum to report on achievements and activities of the department, in the beginning bi monthly and eventually monthly. There will be clear accountability and responsibility for results. Promote honest, transparent government, that includes: a. A budget process that is easy to understand and available to the public b. Minimal closed session items for City Council c. Openness and responsiveness d. Clear goals and objectives with public input e. Regular public meetings, to receive input and inform citizens about city governance.
I led or supported the following initiatives at the Pacifica School District:
Pushed for leasing vacant buildings, which currently bring in over $150,000 to the district annually.
Initiated leasing the vacant yard behind Linda Mar School to create the 4H Farm, which eventually led to a lease with the Pacifica Gardens Project. Increasing community use of School District Facilities.
Helped found the Laguna Salada Asset Management Foundation, and served as its first President, later succeeded by the Pacifica Education Foundation.
Supported development of the growing Home School to provide additional revenue to the Pacifica School District.
Led the initiative to consider alternative uses for the Oddstad School site, including the possibility of developing a multi-use sports complex.
Founded a current initiative to use school sites as locations for film shoots, generating $15,000 of additional revenue. Film contracts also included a local business, Terra Nova, Oceana and a city park, creating income for these members of the community.
